What did I learn that increased my understanding of Manaiakalani kaupapa and pedagogy?
Today there was no increase of my understanding of the kaupapa and pedagogy.
What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow as a professional?
There were a few tips that will help, many of today's google apps I used daily and had explored the loom extension. I also have increased my aesthetics with putting a beautiful theme on my email account. Looking at the Tab add ons, playing with the options found that none suited my needs.
What did I learn that could be used with my learners?
Sharing out the versatility of calendar options which I use extensively. Our group also learnt to ensure when in hangouts, to not pin a person if others are presenting as this stops the presenters screen appearing on our screen. An attempt with headphones in recording the page is available here
What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow in my personal life?
Playing with the Loom extension will allow to make how to guides for staff to make their life easier for less often used.

Evening Shane, I am glad you had a chance to explore Loom, it can be a useful feature on an HP especially if it is downloaded so it isn't using band width while trying to stream a hangout.
ReplyDeleteKia ora Shane. Using Hangouts today certainly prompted lots of questions and discussion. Given that it could become really important in our school delivery in the future, it might be a good idea to share the good and the bad from today's experience with your staff and allow them to practice amongst themselves before they need to be using it with their learners. I'm sure you will have some great pros and cons to share after today!

ReplyDeleteI hope you are enjoying this new online learning. Manaiakalani is looking into starting up Cohort 2 of the DFI online in a couple of weeks. I hope you will take this opportunity to rejoin. While you won't be expected to start until the third week, it would be beneficial to come in from the beginning to reconnect with the content, as there has been so much happening since we last met up face to face.
